We are currently seeking candidates for the following position:

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Friends of the Family

Baltimore, MD

Moravian Hall          Friends of the Family (FOF) is seeking a CFO.  FOF is a nonprofit based in Baltimore providing services throughout Maryland.  It has a strong network of Family Support Centers operated by nonprofits under contract to FOF to promote the optimal development of young children.  Funding for the Family Support Centers comes from the Maryland Department of Education, the U.S. DHHS, foundations, corporations, and individuals.  FOF is the largest federal Early Head Start grantee in Maryland.

A June, 2009 merger between FOF and the Maryland Committee for Children (MCC) has been approved by both Boards of Directors.  MCC coordinates the State’s Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) network, comprised of twelve centers.  FOF’s Executive Director will head the new organization.

The position of CFO is new, created to meet the needs of FOF as it more than doubles in size. The ED wants a CFO who is a strategic thinker about finances and the organization as a whole, and who can handle a wide variety of financial duties including requirements relating to proposing, implementing, reporting, changing, and closing out of every program and corresponding revenue source.

There are a myriad of challenges for the CFO as a result of the merger, including selling the building that MCC owns, subletting the FOF space, and purchasing or leasing new quarters for the combined organization.

The IT function reports to the CFO, and the successful candidate will have significant IT oversight experience. HR will also report to the CFO.  FOF’s Executive Director views the CFO as the keystone in the operation of an excellent corporation.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience as a CFO in a nonprofit organization (e.g. social service, healthcare, education, foundation, association). A master’s degree in finance or business is preferred.  Exceptional experience and success may replace master’s.  See www.friendsofthefamily.org and www.mdchildcare.org.
